Beach Bikinis And The Never Ending Search For Beauty...

For years, one of my biggest pet peeves about the beach volleyball world were the tiny little bikinis that the world class women athletes had to wear as a "uniform." I enjoy watching volleyball immensely but found their tiny outfits so degrading and irksome that I was rather loathe to watch the events on sports networks.

People often ask me, "why do they have to wear those tiny little bikinis?" And my answer is, "eye candy. Pure and simple." The men don't wear speedos when they play beach volleyball (and we are BEYOND thankful for that). The only reason these tall athletic women would have to wear bikinis is to attract attention. How lame that they are in the top one percent of all athletes in the world, yet they are being promoted via exploitation of their sexuality. Drives me crazy.

Sooo.......I found it very interesting that the Olympic committee for this summer's games are allowing women to wear shorts and long sleeved or sleeveless shirts as their uniform. I was thinking, "FINALLY!" but then when I read the article, I was a little disappointed that the reason is being couched under "cultural norms" vs the dignity of woman. It seems to me that since some of the contenders and possible host venues for qualifications are in Islamic cultures, now the women are given the option of covering up, lest it be deemed offensive.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for modesty, but why does it take a brush with the Muslim world to propel committees to institute an option for more modest clothing? I don't get it. Why not give the women the option from the very beginning? Watching these 6 foot and taller women try to play volleyball is ever shrinking bikinis, I am guessing that if they were free to choose, many of them would choose to wear more clothing.

It's a quandary.

On the other hand, the Victoria Secret models have begun to reveal their summer line of bikinis that are specifically more revealing. In the words of one model:

This summer it’s all about Brazil, and they’ve taken a lot of inspiration from Rio and how the women wear their swimsuits down there,” Candice Swanepoel (on left) told FOX411’s Pop Tarts column while launching Victoria’s Secret 2012 Swim Collection in Beverly Hills.

People in Brazil are a lot more comfortable with their bodies and their sexuality (than in the U.S.) and it’s more about having fun… In America, the backs are obviously larger, which I think should change. We are trying to change that!”

Notice her logic here that to be comfortable with one's body means revealing more of it (whoever said that was the measure of being comfortable with oneself? it implies that any woman who dresses modestly is just not comfortable with her body and that is untrue) and what she is really advocating is an act to manipulate women into thinking that wearing a tiny bikini means that you are happy with yourself and your sexuality.

But her "logic" betrays her. Behaving with no recourse to any one else, as if she is the only person on the face of the earth, she says:

“I think it is whatever you are comfortable with, I like to wear them really tiny,” Swanepoel continued. “But I had to get comfortable with that gradually.”

She had to "get comfortable with that gradually" because there is a natural modesty within all of us that protests against overexposure. It's a defense mechanism to keep us from being lusted over and used as sexual objects. It takes time to wear down conscience.

I am not making fun of the beautiful Ms. Swanepoel by any means. I am merely pointing out the fallacy of the "logic" of secular society that says you are "comfortable" with yourself when you dress immodestly and (promoted elsewhere) sleep with whomever. Other than that, if you *gasp* wish to keep to most intimate parts of yourself, body and soul, wrapped in mystery until you reveal those parts to the one who makes a life-time covenant with you, then you are considered "repressed" and "oppressive". Sound backwards to me.

I love to see women who are fashionably dressed and have their hair and make-up done in a beautiful manner and who radiate a confident femininity and beauty without having to "let it all hang out" to get attention and affirmation. That kind of beauty is so refreshing and peaceful. Bikini not needed....

President Obama Pledges His Undying Support For Planned Parenthood

Wow! who knew that Planned Parenthood was an innocent organization that merely "protects women's health care"??? Gosh, I thought their main cash cow was abortion, the direct destruction of new and innocent life. Hmm....I wonder if that memo got lost on the way the to Oval Office? Or.....is something else at work?

I think as a nation, we are reaping what we have sewn. We see time and time again in the Old Testament that when the people sinned, God took away their leadership. We did what we wanted and chose the idolatry of ourselves instead of the freedom of the service of God, Our Father. Until we are serious about conversion as individuals in this great nation, we will languish for lack of leadership.

Welcome to 2012.

Let us pray.....

Paul Harvey Saw The Future

This audio was featured on Glenn Beck's show last week and it is truly profound. Below is the text of some thoughts that radio commentator Paul Harvey spoke of in.......1965. What he said has come to pass about how he would destroy us [America] if he were Satan…

“If I were the devil, I wouldn’t be happy until I had seized the ripest apple on the tree—Thee. So I’d set about however necessary to take over the United States. I’d subvert the churches first—I would begin with a campaign of whispers. With the wisdom of a serpent, I would whisper to you as I whispered to Eve: “Do as you please.” “Do as you please.” To the young, I would whisper, “The Bible is a myth.” I would convince them that man created God instead of the other way around. I would confide that what is bad is good, and what is good is “square”. And the old, I would teach to pray. I would teach them to pray after me, ‘Our Father, which art in Washington…’

And then I’d get organized.  I’d educate authors on how to lurid literature exciting, so that anything else would appear dull and uninteresting. I’d threaten TV with dirtier movies and vice versa. I’d pedal narcotics to whom I could. I’d sell alcohol to ladies and gentlemen of distinction. I’d tranquilize the rest with pills.

If I were the devil I’d soon have families that war with themselves, churches that war that themselves, and nations that war with themselves; until each in its turn was consumed.  And with promises of higher ratings I’d have mesmerizing media fanning the flame.  If I were the devil I would encourage schools to refine young intellects, and neglect to discipline emotions—just let those run wild, until before you knew it, you’d have to have drug sniffing dogs and metal detectors at every schoolhouse door.

Within a decade I’d have prisons overflowing, I’d have judges promoting pornography—soon I could evict God from the courthouse, and then the schoolhouse, and then from the houses of Congress.  And in His own churches I would substitute psychology for religion, and deify science. I would lure priests and pastors into misusing boys and girls, and church money. If I were the devil I’d make the symbols of Easter an egg and the symbol of Christmas a bottle.

If I were the devil I’d take from those, and who have, and give to those wanted until I had killed the incentive of the ambitious. What do you bet I could get whole states to promote gambling as the way to get rich? I would question against extremes and hard work, and Patriotism, and moral conduct.  I would convince the young that marriage is old-fashioned, that swinging more fun, that what you see on the TV is the way to be.  And thus I could undress you in public, and I could lure you into bed with diseases for which there is no cure.  In other words, if I were to devil I’d keep on doing on what he’s doing.

Paul Harvey, good day.”

'The Purity Myth' is a Myth and WebMD Has "Feelings"

I am nearly finished with Jessica Valenti's book The Purity Myth. I hope to write several posts addressing her claims that virginity and desires for purity are a myth perpetrated by right-wing conservatives and "anti-choice" extremists. (that very title of "anti-choice" that she often uses, says a lot right there.)

However, there is something of this tidal wave irrationality that I would like to point out now. In the book, Valenti talks about how extremist pharmacists are denying women (often very young women) their 'right' to "emergency contraception" pills more commonly known as Plan B. Valenti claims that Plan B works by preventing ovulation and therefore claims her outrage over the failure of pharmacists to help prevent pregnancy in the first place. Never mind that the problem here hasn't begun with the pregnancy. It's not the pharmacist's fault.

The struggle begins with the man and the woman freely choosing to be sexually intimate and now wanting to "get rid of" any seeming "consequences." Valenti often criticizes her idea of the "purity" movement, saying that purity promotes an ideal of passive women who are asexual (I have never heard an authentic chastity speaker promote this).

"What about the women who want to have sex and don't want to feel guilty because there is nothing wrong with it?" she says. Indeed. There is nothing wrong with sex whatsoever. It's a beautiful and wonderful gift from God that is an icon, a window, into the intimacy He seeks with us. Sexual intimacy is a small window into the ecstatic union of Heaven. He created it, we didn't. It is very good. But there is a time and place for all things. It's very immature for us as humans to live grasping for whatever we want, however we want and then whining and blaming other people when we don't get what we want.

What comes after uncommitted sex? Why is it that people speak so often about "protection" and "safer-sex"? "Did you use protection?" people ask teens. It's wrong from the start. And when things begin badly, they often end the same way.

Ms. Valenti seems like an intelligent woman so I wonder if she is just ignorant on this matter of how contraception works or is just using partial facts to promote her agenda. Hormonal contraception isn't just engineered to stop ovulation, it works in a three part process to stop pregnancy. However, that's a topic for another time.

Any person who does some internet research can find all of the information as to how Plan B really works. So as I was perusing the internet for this very information, I came across an interesting post on the WebMD site. The article that is published says it has been reviewed by a medical doctor. Considering the information given in the last paragraph, I find that to be a little scary.

The article is titled, "Plan B: 11 Questions, 11 Answers." The article cheerfully describes what Plan B is and is not and how it is supposed to be taken, readily admitting that is works as an abortifacient.

Here is what I had to read a couple of times to wrap my mind around the gross distortion of the article.

The 11th question asks if Plan B works like the RU-486 pill-- here is the exact text:

11. Is Plan B the same as RU-486?

No. RU-486, sold as Mifeprex, is a prescription drug for medical abortion. Mifeprex is used after a woman is already pregnant. Plan B is an emergency contraceptive. It is used to prevent pregnancy. While some people do feel that pregnancy begins at the time of conception, many doctors and the FDA do not describe Plan B as an abortion pill but as emergency contraception.

Read the answer again. Note very carefully the part that ignorantly claims,  While some people do feel that pregnancy begins at the time of conception..."

What was that again? Some people do feel...?

Are you kidding me? A MEDICAL website is promoting the agenda that conception begins when people "feel" that it does? Do we have any idea how stupid that is? Then the dialogue would be, "well, I believe that pregnancy begins at conception but if you believe it begins when the embryo implants in the uterus, then that's okay too. Whatever we feel is fine." That is nonsense.

When does your doctor say to you, "I feel that you have cancer, and our tests show that your body has cancer, but if you don't feel like you do, that's okay. It won't affect you if you feel strongly that you don't have it." We all know what the outcome of that prognosis would be. This is a practice commonly known as "denial." We deny things that are too horrific to deal with or are inconvenient to the lifestyle we want to live so we just "redefine" whatever we don't like and live in denial.

The truth is what it is, not how I feel about it. So let's be very honest. Pregnancy, the creation of a new child, a new person with unique DNA, a person who is precious and unrepeatable with an immortal soul, begins at the very moment of conception-- new life begins at that point. So yes, the birth control pill in all its forms can work as an abortifacient.

This is not a scare-tactic (although when we live in denial, the truth is indeed scary) nor is it right-wing rhetoric. Its the truth. All of us must hold up our thoughts, opinions and feelings to the Truth and allow ourselves to be purified and filled with light.

Don't buy into the 'myths' that are nothing more than denial mixed with fear and sin. All of us have denial in our lives. All of us are called to surrender our denial and the myths we carry in our hearts to Jesus who is the Way, Truth and Life. He will set us free.

Cold, Cold Heart....

Perhaps this is Jesus' song to us in a certain way and the journey of inner healing and Lent....We push Him away because of our struggles from the past and all He wants to do is love us and heal our cold hearts. The lyrics are piercing, indeed......

I've tried so hard my dear to show
That you're my every dream
Yet you're afraid each thing I do
Is just some evil scheme

A memory from your lonesome past

Keeps us so far apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

Another love before my time

Made your heart sad an' blue
And so my heart is paying now
For things I didn't do

In anger unkind words are said

That make the teardrops start
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

There was a time when I believed

That you belonged to me
But now I know your heart is shackled
To a memory

The more I learn to care for you

The more we drift apart
Why can't I free your doubtful mind
And melt your cold cold heart

Dilemma Of Desire

I don't know about you, but Lent is really working on me this year. It's not easy to see your idols, long hidden in the grasp of your hand, revealed in the light of day.

We cling to what we think will bring us happiness or satisfaction, success or intimacy- and while many times these things to which we cling are not bad in themselves, when we place them in front of God and insist on paradise in this life, it creates all sorts of problems.

We bow down and worship that which is beneath our dignity. For what? Fear of loss, fear that our Father will not come through for us, fear that if we want happiness we better provide it for ourselves.

As the Big Book states--we hope to wrest some satisfaction out of life by managing life well.

It doesn't quite work like that- for we were made for higher things.

I am reading a book by John Eldredge at this time entitled "The Journey of Desire". I do not know Mr. Eldredge and I am pretty certain he will never read this blog but if I could say one thing to him I would say, "MR. ELDREDGE!!! Your book on desire is kicking my posterior along the sands in the desert of Lent. For real, you are rocking my world. This book is so necessary but is piercing my soul. Its life-giving and death dealing at the same time. Thank you."

Fields of Gold.....

Perhaps you could use a vision of fields of gold at this time in Lent----

Sex Strike By The 'Liberal Ladies Who Lunch' And Why Nancy Pelosi Is Killing Me...

In a very interesting and telling promotion, the organization 'Liberal Ladies Who Lunch' have made a  self-declaration of a "sex strike" with the slogan posted on their facebook page, “In truth, if we lose our hard won rights to medical care, birth control and pregnancy choice, it won’t only affect women. Men will have to go back to the days when they waited for or paid for sex. This issue impacts all of us. This strike is designed to make that point. Ask your man to speak up for your rights, because when we lose our reproductive choices, so do they.”

Can we just talk a little bit about this statement? It asserts some falsity-- much of which is being promoted without facts or common sense.

Point #1) if we lost our hard won rights to medical care, birth control and pregnancy choice, it won't only affect women.

What is the definition of "medical care"? As far as I know, there is no one in America who is advocated for the removal of medical care for women, quite the contrary. How is birth control a "hard won" right? I don't understand how the absorbing of carcinogens that come with a whole host of nasty side-effects is a fight worth the battle. "Pregnancy choice" is a euphemism for abortion. Abortion, let's be very honest, is the cruel murder of little children. There is nothing noble about that. These choices have never affected only women-- all of us has suffered the fallout of the sexual revolution- increased divorce rate, higher numbers of STDS and more than 50 million abortions in American alone since its legalization. No man is an island. We can pretend we do not affect one another, but that simply isn't true.

Point #2) Men will have to go back to the days when they waited for or paid for sex.
Men still pay for sex, the prostitution industry and pornography industry are in no danger of going out of business. Having more sterile sex doesn't satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart. Lust, as St.Augustine speaks of in his Confessions, is only an itch that craves to be scratched.

Oh, the horror! Men might have to learn about the beauty of a woman's body and bring their sexual desires to order rather than having sex on demand. Women might learn of their deep nobility and find that they are gifts to be given and received, not toys for the mere enjoyment of men.

Point #3) When we lose our reproductive choices, so do they.

What does that even mean? "Reproductive choices"? That sounds so crass. What choices are being spoken of? Sterile marital union? The ability to copulate with random people without suffering the "seeming consequences"? The ability to legally kill children in the womb? These are the "choices" that women have worked so hard for? God help us all. We are truly, truly missing essence of what it means to be a human person. We are not mindless animals with reproductive organs. We are noble, infinite and awe-inspiring creations of God. We are not recycled nor replaced.

Women of faith-- speak out! Please! Let us speak a word that will rouse them. If you have a blog, blog about this. If you have a youtube account, make a video about this! We must get the truth out. All that the mainstream media is covering are voices like those of Nancy Pelosi, who claims to be Catholic but doesn't understand her own faith or dignity and arrogantly spouts ignorance and sophistry.

The video I posted on this blog of her giving a talk to other women at the Women In The World Summit reminded me of a big sister sitting around a campfire on a log, telling horror stories to little girls. "They don't believe in birth control.....and they are proud of it....." she spouts, trying to stir the ire and horror of the "enlightened" masses.

You know what is really horrific? The pole-vaulting and sheer dominance Rep Pelosi promised would happen to get Obamacare passed. True horror is when the government comes to impose its seeming "remedy" at the expense of freedom of religion. It is horrific indeed not to know who we are and to be told by the government what we should do in matters of faith and conscience.

Let us go back to our foundation. We must know our faith and we must have a living encounter with Jesus, the One who saves, redeems and heals. We must seek recourse to the Sacraments, especially Confession and the Eucharist.

We must read the works of the Founders of our country. We must go back to the original vision that God has for us as humans. We must go back to the original vision the Founders had for this country.

We must know who we are at the core of our being.

"Catholic" House Minority Leader Reveals Her Agenda and Her Ignorance

Check out this horrendous video of Nancy Pelosi supposedly educating women on Catholicism and contraception at the Women in the World Summit held yesterday. AGHHH!!!!! i need another barfing emoticon.

Yet ANOTHER example of misinformation and skewing the issue.

Rep Pelosi: you know very well that this issue is not about the morality of contraception, that is an entirely different conversation that we would be happy to have with you. This mandate is about the government trying to force people of a certain religion (supposedly yours! why aren't you speaking out for the rights of religious freedom?) to go against their conscience in providing something that is harmful to women, children and society.

This is indeed a moment of truth, more than you could ever imagine.

FYI, before you make jokes about the "rhythm method", you might want to do a little research about NFP, the truth will surprise you.

When Emotions Make Our Decisions For Us, Part 2...

I finally listened to the actual lyrics of this Britney Spears' song Criminal the other day and it is another classic example of emotions driving the car of our lives, rather than being at the service of reason- much to our detriment on a number of levels. Then we wonder what went wrong?

At least Britney admits it in this song. She sings "this kind of love isn't rational, it's physical." How true.....

Double Standard At Large....

The situation with President Obama calling Sandra Fluke to encourage her after Rush Limbaugh rude comment about her was lame enough.

But now White House Spokesmagician Jay Carney says that President Obama is not going to get involved with the Bill Maher controversy because  "language that denigrates women is inappropriate," but it is not the President's place to be the "arbiter" of every controversial statement.
"He chooses to lead by example or tries to," Carney said of the president, adding that "he chooses to try to practice that civility himself and he calls on everybody to do just that..."

Spare me! The whole thing is nonsense and a double standard. And there is a million dollars of campaign money involved....where is a barfing emoticon when you need one? oh, wait, here it is.....

Colts Release Peyton Manning

In a press conference not found surprising by many, the Indianapolis Colts released venerable quarterback Peyton Manning.

See Peyton's emotional response here on espn.

To avoid having to pay Manning an additional 28 million dollar bonus, the Colts released the 35-year-old quarterback today, making him a free agent after missing an entire season due to a neck injury.

Manning was one of the most visible NFL players ever and led his former team to recording breaking wins, himself being a four-time MVP.

I feel bad for him. Obviously, if you play professional sports, you have to know that it's a serious business that urges winning at any cost and seems dubious to any sort of personal human loyalty. However, people are people and no one likes to be cast aside when they are no longer "of use." I hope he can become healthy and continue to pursue his dreams. On the other hand, with a serious neck injury, Peyton will really have to discern if its worth it and at what cost.

God bless you Peyton. My heart goes out to you.

Cardinal Dolan's Latest Letter Regarding HHS: This Is A MUST READ

Readers: Please read the latest letter written by Cardinal Dolan regarding the HHS mandate that has been much talked about in the Church, media and social circles around the country.

On youtube, I posted two videos regarding the mandate and since much of the opposition from the videos had to do with people's disagreement over the Church's teaching on birth control, I see that most of us have fallen right into the trap set by the Obama administration. The trap is this-- get people to argue over birth control vs seeing the deeper issue which is a government takeover of healthcare and the Church.

Mission Accomplished.

The letter by Cardinal Dolan is an excellent explanation of what is REALLY going on. Please read it. Pass it on. Get informed and stay informed.

This is not a joke nor is it something that is going to go away on its own. This is a big deal and we must live in the light and the truth and speak out.

IPF and the Holy Father's Letter for Lent Part 2

Here is week two's reflection on the Holy Father's Letter for Lent

Fr. Richard Gabuzda, S.T.D., Lent 2012, Week II from IPF on Vimeo.

Selena Gomez Sings About Jesus?

okay, okay....so this song has been in my mind for WEEKS, I tell you, WEEKS. And as I listen to it, I think it's about Jesus (you can stop laughing now). I will post the lyrics below the video. You be the judge ;) I am changing one of the lyrics because true love is not sinful, and obviously, that has nothing to do with Jesus

[Verse 1]
It's been said and done
Every beautiful thought's been already sung
And I guess right now here's another one
So your melody will play on and on, with the best of 'em
You are beautiful, like a dream come alive, incredible
A sinful (NO!!), miracle, lyrical
You've saved my life again
And I want you to know baby

[Chorus]
I, I love you like a love song, baby
I, I love you like a love song, baby
I, I love you like a love song, baby

And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat

I, I love you like a love song, baby
I, I love you like a love song, baby
I, I love you like a love song, baby

And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat

[Verse 2]
Constantly, boy you played through my mind like a symphony
There's no way to describe what you do to me
You just do to me, what you do
And it feels like I've been rescued
I've been set free
I am hypnotized by your destiny
You are magical, lyrical, beautiful
You are... And I want you to know baby

[Chorus]
I, I love you like a love song, baby
I, I love you like a love song, baby
I, I love you like a love song, baby

And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat

I, I love you like a (love song baby) love song, baby
I, I love you like a (love song baby) love song, baby
I, I love you (I love you, I love you) like a love song, baby

And I keep hitting re-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat-peat (like a love song)

[Bridge]
No one compares
You stand alone, to every record I own
Music to my heart that's what you are
A song that goes on and on

I love you...like a love song...

The Plot Thickens..

Rush Limbaugh issued an apology to Sandra Fluke for the words he used to describe her behavior regarding her lamentation of not receiving free birth control from her Catholic university where she attends law school.
While she has been packaged as being an innocent victim of Mr. Limbaugh's cruelty, there is more to this story than we ever knew.

Have you ever wondered how people are chosen to testify before Congress? How was Ms. Fluke selected? Was she merely a random law school student fighting for the rights of women who have ovarian cysts to have access to free birth control pills? Sadly, not even close.

Check out this article about Ms. Fluke's past participation in "reproductive justice." Her attitude toward "justice"? "A woman’s right to access an abortion, like her other reproductive rights, is rooted in fundamental human rights, including the right to life, the right to health, the right to dignity, the right to equality and non-discrimination, the right to information, the right to self-determination, the right to education, the right to privacy, and the freedom from torture, cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment. [...]"

Even though Ms. Fluke is a law student, she apparently isn't familiar with the reality of actual abortion, which is non other than cruel torture, inhumane treatment and the ultimate degradation of the most innocent and helpless members of society.

Her whole "testimony" before Congress is nonsense and a sham. It's a complete agenda of death.

God help us all.

Rush Hammered For Outspoken Comment About Law Student

Rush Limbaugh was hammered today by the right and the left over his comments regarding a 30 year-old law school student who was advocating for free mandatory birth control coverage and lamenting her situation of being at Georgetown University and not being provided with free birth control because it is a Catholic University.

Mr. Limbaugh commented on Sandra Fluke's complaint that she must pay for her own birth control because she attends a Catholic institution that won't pay for her birth control (as I am writing this, I cannot believe these words are being formed by my hands, has it really come to this? a law school student whining that a Catholic institution won't pay for her birth control? nonsense. anyway...). Mr. Limbaugh compared her comments about her behavior to prostitution, and then used a rather inappropriate name to describe Ms. Fluke. You can read all the details here. (link from foxnews fixed)

Should he have called her that name? no. But here is where the whole situation gets me. During a press conference, it was revealed that the White House has taken up this issue and is defending Ms. Fluke as courageous young woman who was just speaking her opinion. President Obama called her on the phone and apologized to her (he seems to be making apologies a lot lately) for the inappropriateness of Mr. Limbaugh's comment and it seems like she is being promoted as the unfortunate victim of right-wing conservatives.

Let's get the facts straight here. This is an agenda that is skillfully playing on the hearts of people. No, Ms. Fluke shouldn't have been called any names. But I don't know how many times President Obama has called Timothy Cardinal Dolan on the phone to apologize for the hatred against the Catholic Church for standing firm on the sanctity of marriage and the right to life.

What about earlier this week when the Huffington Post published a piece that called Catholicism the "The Jesus eating cult of Rick Santorum?" Don't recall hearing any phone calls made over that one...

The whole thing is utter nonsense and the media is INCREDIBLY biased. Is someone standing up for free birth control really so courageous? President Obama told Ms. Fluke that her parents should be proud of her.

Ms. Fluke, my heart goes out to you that someone who is very influential called you a derogatory name. That's not right. However, what you are saying isn't right either. We do not wish to pay for your birth control. If you choose to have sex then pay for it yourself. You are not a victim and this is not about women's health.
Sleeping around with men is not good for you, if that is what you are doing. That is not good for your health. Your fertility and femininity are not a disease. If you really want someone to pay for your birth control perhaps the men who are so willing to take from you might want to help out. I hope one day that you will see your true dignity and beauty. Seeing you advocate for self-destruction is truly heartbreaking.

A Prime Example of Feelings Over Reason

We live in a culture that prizes feelings as objective truth over the power of reason to tell us the difference between right and wrong. The mass media implicitly tells us, "if you feel really strongly about something, it must be right and no one can tell you any differently.

Unfortunately, while feelings are given to us by God to help move us and serve reason, they aren't supposed to make our decisions for us. That's completely backwards.

Case in point- check out this article about a mother who is trying to have a local high school teacher arrested for luring her daughter into a physical relationship. The teacher who is a 41-year-old married man with children, has recently left his wife and kids to live with the 18 year-old high school student.

Denying any physical intimacy together before she turned 18, the teacher said they finally decided to follow their hearts and be together.

Even more telling, the girl says, "he is my best friend. he is more than a lover."

Let's see...18 year-old student, 41 year-old married teacher with children....and they have decided to "follow their hearts."

I'm not buying it. It's not their hearts they are following, it appears to be a need-based relationship that will most likely falter when the feelings dissipate and then, what will be left? What about this man's children, one of whom goes to the same high school as the girl he now lives with? What about his wife? What about the innocence of the girl who will forever deal with the ramifications of being intimate with a man old enough to be her father? Where is this girl's dad?

It is very hard for us to discern situations to be true when we feel very strongly about them, don't get me wrong. But we must remember that truth does not rest upon how we feel about something, but rather if it is objectively true or not.
