It is with a heavy and incredulous heart that I post the news that our beloved Father, Fr. Santan Pinto, died suddenly in a car accident after just arriving for a home visit in India. Apparently, Fr. Pinto was the passenger in a car that was struck and he died instantly. A Bishop in India, the Bishop of Belgaum, has contacted our community and confirmed this sorrowful news. Fr. Pinto's funeral will be tomorrow in India. It's interesting, you know, after just posting Father's Christmas message yesterday and then posting the clip by Fr. Barron about the true nature of Advent, we never know when God will take us home. The media and secular society loves to mock celibacy and the priesthood but it's easy to see that Fr. Pinto has more spiritual children than those people ever will. God will not be mocked. Father was a priest who was faithful to the end, who loved God more than anything and made countless sacrifices for his many spiritual children. To say that he will b

Please be wary of The Blaze as it's a Glenn Beck product, a man who supports and defends torture, an intrinsic evil...the Catechism says, "Torture which uses physical or moral violence to extract confessions, punish the guilty, frighten opponents, or satisfy hatred is contrary to respect for the person and for human dignity" (No. 2298). More so, In Catholic teaching, human dignity does not come from any human quality or accomplishment; it comes from God. For this reason, the catechism teaches, "It is also blasphemous to make use of God's name to cover up criminal practices, to reduce peoples to servitude, to torture persons or put them to death" (No. 2148). That being said, where is the outcry via your blog about Mississippi putting someone to death?
I do know that The Blaze is overseen by Glenn Beck and I like him very much. Of course, I do not agree with every statement he makes but I believe that he speaks the truth and says things that few others are willing to say.
That being said, I have never heard him advocate for torture. He has had discussions about enhanced interrogation techniques (ie-"waterboarding") which some people consider torture but I have never heard him say that he is a proponent for torture.
What does Glenn Beck have to do with capital punishment in Mississippi?
Whether you call it Torture or hide behind the feel good synonym of "Enhanced Interrogation", the purpose is to submit an innocent person (under US Law) to fear, pain, and humiliation in order to gather unreliable information. I cant support it under any name as a Catholic, Christian or American.
As for the recent execution. I believe that the point was not about something Glenn Beck said or you posted. It was about what wasnt said or posted. The State ignored the sanctity of human life and killed one of God's creations in our name. We have become a barbaric and hypocrical society.
